History

1943 Jun. KUNIMINE MINING CO., LTD. established.
1946 Feb. Changes the company name to KUNIMINE KOKA KOGYO CO., LTD.
1949 Dec. Merges with Tsukinunogawa Mining Co., Ltd. (acquires the Aterazawa Factory and the Tsukinuno Mining Station) and starts mining of bentonite ores and manufacture of products using them.
1956 Mar. Opens the Ota Factory in Hitachi-Ota, Ibaraki.
1963 Jan. Starts processing of agrochemical formulations in the Aterazawa Factory.
1967 Aug. Opens the Zao Factory in Karita-gun, Miyagi and starts manufacture and sale of calcium-type bentonite.
1970 Apr. Establishes KAWASAKI MINING CO., LTD. in Miyagi (capital: 1 million yen, capital contribution ratio: 50%).
1970 May. Starts manufacture of agrochemical bases in the Aterazawa Factory and the Ota Factory.
1971 Nov. Starts manufacture of activated bentonite (Neokunibond) in the Zao Factory.
1973 Nov. Establishes an R&D laboratory for clay minerals in the Aterazawa Factory and succeeds in commercializing pure montmorillonite (KUNIPIA) using crude ores in the Tsukinuno Mining Station.
1978 Jun. Changes the company name to KUNIMINE INDUSTRIES CO., LTD.
1980 Aug. Completes a laboratory in Kuroisho, Tochigi, and moves the laboratory in the Aterazawa Factory to the new laboratory.
1983 Mar. Opens the Iwaki Factory & Laboratory in the Kashima industrial complex in Joban, Fukushima.
1986 Jun. Opens the Onahama Factory in the Onahama coastal industrial complex in Fukushima and starts processing of agrochemical formulations.
1989 Jun. The company's shares are registered with the Tokyo District Office of the Japan Securities Dealers Association.
1990 May. Opens the Mito Factory in Hoi-gun, Aichi and starts manufacture of bentonite.
1992 Dec. Establishes TRANS WORLD PROSPECT CORPORATION in Texas, U.S. (capital: US$1.4 million, capital contribution ratio: 71.4%).
1994 Jul. Spins off the mining department and establishes KUNIMAIN CO., LTD. (capital: 2.5 million yen, capital contribution ratio: 100%).
2000 Mar. Acquires 100% of the shares of KAWASAKI MINING CO., LTD.
2004 Dec. Cancels registration as an over-the-counter-company with the Japan Securities Dealers Association and lists its shares on the JASDAQ Securities Exchange.
2008 Apr. Acquires 100% of the shares of KANTO BENTONITE MINING CO., LTD. and KANBEN MINING CO., LTD. and has 100% ownership of both companies.
2010 Apr. Lists its shares on the JASDAQ of the Osaka Stock Exchange following the merger between them and the JASDAQ Securities Exchange.
2012 Jan. Acquires the Koriyama Factory from BASF Japan Ltd.
2013 Jul. Lists its shares on the JASDAQ (standard) of the Tokyo Stock Exchange following the merger between them and the Osaka Stock Exchange.
2015 Jan. Establishes KUNIMINE (THAILAND) CO., LTD. in Thailand
(capital: 4 million Thai bahts, capital contribution ratio: 49.0%).
